Dentures, or “false teeth”, are devices moulded to fit your mouth and replace any number of missing teeth.
While dentures may have a bad reputation, techniques and materials have come a long way – allowing dentists to provide natural-looking, well-fitting teeth that are comfortable and discreet. Dentures are also a less expensive alternative to implants.

Replacing lost teeth is important to aid chewing and speech. Facial appearance is also dramatically altered by replacing lost teeth and many people feel their self-confidence improves greatly when they invest in dentures or similar treatments.

There are several different methods for replacing and/or repairing missing or broken teeth. Your suitability for dentures will be assessed by your dentist, who may recommend a better alternative. If you decide to go ahead with dentures your dentist will take moulds which will be used to create a perfect fit for your new teeth. You will then be required to make another appointment in which your dentist will ensure your dentures fit well. You will also receive full instruction on how to care for and prolong the life of your new teeth.
Temporary dentures are also used during bridge or implant treatment while healing is taking place. This enables you to continue eating and socialising as normal, without the embarrassment of missing teeth.
Your dentist can advise you whether simple plastic dentures or more advanced, precision-fit metal dentures are appropriate for you.
